The Journey with Jeff Collection

Northern Lights & Arctic Exploration

Imagine standing beneath a sky that moves like water.

Churchill, Manitoba

Where the sky comes alive.

There is a moment, standing beneath a truly dark Arctic sky, when the first band of green appears on the horizon. It moves slowly at first, testing the air, and then it begins to dance. Colors ripple across the darkness in ways that no photograph has ever fully captured. And for a moment, everyone standing beside you goes completely silent.

This is Churchill, Manitoba. And this is why we bring travelers here every winter.

The best place on Earth to see the aurora

Aurora over Icelandic landscape

Churchill sits directly beneath the Van Allen Belt. This is the place where the aurora is most consistently, most vividly, most spectacularly alive. Clearer skies than Iceland. Clearer skies than Lapland. Long winter nights that stretch the viewing window and increase your odds of witnessing something extraordinary.

We have spent more than three decades building relationships here. We know the land, the people, and the sky. And we have designed an experience around all three.

Six private places to meet the aurora

Each viewing space offers its own vantage point on the northern sky — from an open-air geodesic dome to a private cabin deep in the boreal forest.

Aurora Pod

A glass roof and half-walls give you an unobstructed 360° view of the sky above.

Aurora Sphere

An intimate geodesic dome, warmed by a wood stove.

Aurora Domes

Two-story domes with circular views of the night sky and a heated lounge below.

Boreal Lounge

A curved clear top and wraparound deck for vantage points from every level.

Aurora Cabin

Reached by private snowcoach across a frozen creek — wilderness that's entirely yours for the evening.

Days Built for Northern Adventure

The aurora may be the reason you come. It is not the only reason you will remember the trip.

By day, glide across the tundra behind a team of sled dogs, an experience rooted in generations of northern tradition. Snowshoe through the boreal forest, where moose, fox, and Arctic hare leave their tracks in the snow. Venture deep into the North Woods aboard our custom-built snowcoach, an experience available exclusively to our travelers. Along the way, meet the people of Churchill, whose history and resilience are woven into everything this remarkable town has become.

Everything Handled. Nothing Left to Chance.

You won't need to purchase a heavy parka you will wear once a year. We provide it all, along with insulated boots, mittens, snow pants, and everything else required to stay warm while the sky does what it does best.

Your Expedition Leader brings deep expertise in the natural and cultural history of the Canadian North, and a dedicated local guide travels alongside for added flexibility and personal attention. Private chartered flights carry you to and from Winnipeg, so more of your time is spent in nature, and less of it is spent in an airport.
