Alaska Unplugged.
BECAUSE EXPLORING MATTERS

EXPLORATION AWAITS.
Considered Alaska’s playground, Kenai Peninsula is where adventure travelers go to fish, kayak, hike, cruise, and view wildlife. Meander past snowy peaks and dense forests where bears, moose, and mountain goats scavenge for wild berries. Cast your line on the Kenai and Russian Rivers where record-setting salmon and halibut are ready for the reeling. Hop aboard a glacier cruise or explore these icy plateaus on foot for the ultimate glacial experience. During these full-day expeditions, you’ll come face-to-face with puffins and sea otters, and even the occasional black bear peering from the distance. Live like a local as you try your luck at gold mining, fishing, rafting, and tide-pooling with the Alaskan Native Aleut people. Untamed nature awaits during this hand-crafted Alaskan adventure.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Anchorage/Girdwood. The pristine panorama begins in Anchorage with a drive-along stunning Cook Inlet. This wild watershed is home to a spectacular ecosystem covering 47,000 square miles of Southcentral Alaska. Within its invisible borders are seven wildlife refuges, four state parks, and seven habitat areas that support a rich fabric of life including moose, caribou, birds, wolves, sea otters, sea lions, brown and black bears, and five species of Pacific salmon. It’s here where Denali’s winter melts into the three river deltas that feed Cook Inlet — Susitna, the Matanuska, and the Kenai. Relish this magnificence during a whale-watching excursion in search of humpback, beluga, and killer whales, followed by a hike along Byron Glacier Trail. Delivering Instagrammable moments are the crystal-blue ice flats of Portage Valley, with the occasional moose and bear to boot.
Day 2–3: Seward. Set on an inlet along the Kenai Peninsula, the lively port town of Seward serves as our gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Start each morning with a stroll down Main Street in the historic town lined with galleries, museums, shops, and cafes. From our basecamp lodge, we’ll walk the famous The Iditarod Trail once used by dog sleds for winter travel to Anchorage and Fairbanks. For lunch-with-a-view, we’ll climb 2,300 feet in elevation by way of the Alyeska Aerial Tram. This scenic ride has been named among the “Best Ski Resort Views” by Conde Nast Traveler. Yet, it only gets better from here. Back in the valley, we’ll hike to the base of Exit Glacier to soak in views of the Harding Icefield. From frozen earth to liquid landmarks, get ready to set sail. The befitting name of Resurrection Bay brings new life with its views of tidewater glaciers and narrow fjords where we’ll explore the shoreline by kayak. Cut through pristine waters with experienced kayak guides at the helm. Prepare yourself for water-surface greetings, compliments of sea lions, otters, and other aquatic wildlife.
Day 4–6: Homer. At the end of Sterling Highway—200 miles south of Anchorage— is the seaside town of Homer that will leave you with Alaskan-sized memories. Surrounded by wilderness and ocean, this halibut-fishing capital of the world is equally famous for its precious pink peonies. From Cooper Landing, take your pick of a piloted raft ride on the Kenai River or a guided hike through spruce forest and fields of wildflowers. Relax and recoup at our cozy lodge cradling the bay, and watch local fishermen come in with the day’s catch. There’ll be plenty of time to explore the town’s attractions lining Homer spit. From the Pratt Museum boasting local artifacts, to restaurants and galleries, absorb Alaskan culture at your own pace. From the port, we’ll board our private vessel for a day in Kachemak Bay State Park, containing 400,000 acres of mountains, glaciers, forests, and ocean. Tap into all your senses with a picnic on the banks of a glacier-fed lake with views of eagles, gyrfalcons, puffins, and other seabird colonies. Get close and personal with marine life as we explore tidepools abundant with sea stars, crabs, and urchins. Along the shoreline, don’t be surprised to see moose, black bear, coyotes, and wolves lapping freshwater after their day in the forest. The bay's twisted rock formations make the ideal backdrop for an impromptu photo session to button up the journey. From here, it’s traveler’s choice with either a 90-minute scenic bush-plane or a scheduled commercial flight from Homer back to Anchorage.
